Britain’s number one female skier, Chemmy Alcott, has been improving her speed on the slopes by using a Power Plate to get her in prime fitness and also to rehabilitate from a broken ankle she sustained in training in November last year. Chemmy represents Britain in the World Cup Ladies Alpine Ski competition and was ranked 16th in the world during the 2007 – 2008 season.

After breaking her ankle her head coach incorporated the Power Plate into her training regime and it has become an important part of her rehabilitation strategy to gain full fitness back as soon as possible.

“It has been very helpful in recovery and rehab and we use it a great amount for recovery sessions and massage.” says Chemmy.

Head coach Mark Tilston says the Power Plate machine was chosen because of its excellent range of vibration frequency helps Chemmy achieve maximum strength development.

“The Power Plate machine contributed to Chemmy’s intensive rehabilitation programme, including proprioception, recovery and massage. Chemmy is now back in training for her return to World Cup racing and the Power Plate machine has proved to be an invaluable asset to the Ladies World Cup team.”

The Power Plate machines are ideal for sports such as skiing and snowboarding both for the professional and the novice. They can aid stability and balance by strengthening the core muscles and also offer massage and rehabilitation to those tired muscles after a day on the mountain.
